Description
Ravintsara was introduced to Madagascar in the mid-20th century from Taiwan. Now it grows wild in the tropical Madagascan forests or is cultivated. Despite the botanical name Cinnamomum camphora, the Madagascan essential oil (Ravintsara) counts on very little camphor. Nevertheless, it has got a high percentage of 1,8-cineole, between 40% and 65%.
Ravintsara comes from an evergreen broad-leafed tree. Its leaves are shiny and fragrant, simple and alternate, and each leaf counts on three longitudinal veins. This tree grows up to 30 metres, has got a rough bark and develops white flowers and black berries.
MARNYS® Ravintsara Essential Oil contains the following chemotypes: 1-8 cineole, sabinene. Its colour and appearance range from colourless to pale yellow, it has got a strongly herbal scent and with a slightly pungent, fresh, very aromatic taste and aniseed-like smell, properties that favour food taste.
MARNYS® Ravintsara Essential Oil is a food-grade oil, and the etymology of its name comes from the Madagascan language where « Ravina » means leaf and « Tsara » means good, so it is commonly known as the tree of good leaves. It is usually added to teas and honey, providing a refreshing and stimulating drink.
